Flingle is all about meeting people with groups of your friends. You will always be with people you know and so the experience should be as safe as any new social meetings could be.

However, following a few simple tips will make for a safer, more enjoyable experience:

Profiles

Never put personal details in your profile or initial messages such as phone number, email address, home address or place of work.

Be honest with your profile - if you’re serious about meeting new people, it is always better to be yourself.

If somebody else's profile shows a large number of negative responses (the red faces), it might be worth thinking twice before contacting them.

Messages

Make use of our online messaging system. This will not display any confidential information about you and will not display your email address.

The messaging system should allow you to get to know other groups and Flingle members without needing to disclose any personal information.

You can only contact other members and groups when both parties have given each other a positive rating (a green smiley face).

You can prevent another group or member from contacting you at any time by withdrawing your positive rating for that group or person.

If at any point you feel uncomfortable about a member, stop contacting them and withdraw your positive rating for that group or person.

If you feel someone has sent you inappropriate messages or is abusing the messaging service, tell us immediately.

Contacting Others

After chatting with a group though our messaging service, you will hopefully decide you want to meet the group in person. However, don’t let another group or person persuade you to meet up unless you feel totally happy about meeting them.

Set up a meeting using our 'Arrange a Flingle' option. This is the safest and easiest way for your group to arrange a social event with other Flingle members.

If you decide to give the group an email address to contact you with, consider setting up a free email using Hotmail or Yahoo.

Swap real photos with the group beforehand so you know exactly who it is you’ll be meeting!

Never give out your mobile phone number unless feel 100% comfortable with the group or person in question. For the first meeting, it is normally best to arrange a time and a place without swapping numbers.

If another member gives you their phone number, you can use the blocking technique (type 141 before dialling) to prevent your number appearing on Caller ID. Also think about using a mobile phone number that you can easily change.

Meeting up

Treat a Flingle meeting with the same amount of caution (and excitement!) as you would with any other date or social event.

Flingle is about group socialising, so even if you are keen to get to know one particular individual, meet them with a group of friends first. Then if it goes well you can arrange to meet them privately should you wish to.

Always meet in public places, like pubs or restaurants.

Use your common sense and be responsible for your conduct.

Make sure someone knows where you are going and when you will be home.

Trust your instincts - if you have a bad feeling about a group or individual, leave them and head out for a night out with your friends instead!

If you follow the simple tips above, you will have a safer and more fun experience with Flingle.com. Happy Flingling!
